A Club Member in Need I was diagnosed in 1988 with Polycystic Kidney Disease. Over the past 20 years I have been very fortunate as the disease is a slow progressing one. I recently found out that my kidneys are starting to shut down and that I will need a transplant. We have exhausted family and I am now turning to friends hoping that someone out there will be willing to give me a kidney as donors from live patients are more successful than cadavers. I am blood type O positive but even if you are not a match you may be a match for someone who is dying because there are just not enough kidneys or organs to go around. If you are willing to participate in this program it is a one for one program. You may not be a match for me but you may be a match for someone else and they may have a family member or friend that is willing to give me their kidney, so you see everyone involved wins. 15 to 20 people die everyday waiting for kidneys as the need is so great. It is like living with a pendulum over your head never knowing from day to day if you will be lucky enough to have someone be generous enough to give you the gift of life. If you are interested in becoming a donor you can contact Frank Korn, the Transplant Donor Coordinator at Massachusetts General Hospital at 617-643-6513. Thank you for listening to my problems and for considering my need. Warm Regards, Jinny Nealon
